Hengistbury Head

Hengistbury Head is a natural scenic area of Headland between Bournemouth and Christchurch. It is an area of outstanding beauty with far reaching views of Christchurch Harbour, Mudeford, the Isle of Wight, Poole Bay and Bournemouth. Hengistbury Head’s beautiful beaches, attract visitors from all over the world, boasting lovely walks and stunning views. Walkers can enjoy a variety of terrain from a gentle stroll around the shore of the harbour to a hike over the Headland with its panoramic views. There is also a popular Land Train which operates every day between the Hiker Café and Mudeford Beach.

The area has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to its significant archaeological importance and natural habitat that supports a wide variety of wildlife and rare plant species. The area is also a major educational resource and is used as a subject for a range of studies related to local history, geology and the environment.
